Personal Life of the Nobility

Tour II. The Harrach family’s original private rooms offer a glimpse into aristocratic life at Hrádek in the second half of the 19th century. The tour is open from May to September (in May and September at weekends only). Tours are conducted in Czech. Individual visitors may borrow a printed English tour text from the ticket office for the duration of the tour, subject to availability.

Tour of the former private rooms – first floor of the castle

Entrance Hall, Knights’ Hall, Oak Staircase, the Count’s Suite (Antechamber, Drawing Room, Study, Bathroom and Bedroom), the Countess’s Suite (Study, Drawing Room, Bedroom, Dressing Room and Bathroom), Children’s Room, Lady’s Maid’s Rooms, Picture Gallery–Summer Dining Room.

Please note that visitors are provided with protective slippers to wear during this tour.

Standard tours of Tour II are conducted in Czech. Individual visitors joining a Czech-language tour may borrow a printed English tour text from the ticket office for the duration of the tour, subject to availability.

For group bookings, we recommend Tour I, as it has a larger capacity, is wheelchair accessible and is open more frequently. An English-language tour of Tour II may be available depending on the season and must be booked well in advance. The maximum capacity is 15 visitors per group.


The tour lasts approximately 50 minutes. Maximum capacity: 15 visitors.

January–April

The tour is closed.

May–June

In May and June, from Tuesday to Friday, the tour is available to pre-booked groups only. Reservations are not accepted for individual visitors, only for groups of approximately 10 or more. At weekends and on public holidays, the tour is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

July–August

In July and August, the tour is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

September

In September, from Tuesday to Friday, the tour is available to pre-booked groups only. Reservations are not accepted for individual visitors. At weekends, the tour is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. without prior reservation.

27 September 2026: Dear visitors, we greatly appreciate your overwhelming interest in the Special Free Admission Days. All available places at Hrádek u Nechanic Castle have already been booked for both dates. However, we recommend checking the National Heritage Institute’s online ticket portal regularly, as additional places may become available if any bookings are cancelled.

October–December

The tour is closed.


Advance booking is required for a tour with an English-speaking guide.

For group bookings, we recommend Tour I, as it has a larger capacity, is wheelchair accessible and is open more frequently.

I. (Basic) Tour. The original, richly decorated and furnished interiors present an example of aristocratic living in the second half of the 19th century. The tour includes the representative halls on the ground floor of the Harrach family château. The basic tour is available from April to October.

Explore the castle cellars and discover historic technology, including 19th-century boilers and an electrical distribution room dating from 1914, followed by a climb to the castle’s landmark Clock Tower.
